SQUALICORAX

FOSSIL SHARK TEETH

Also called "Raven" or "Crow" Shark (Latin "Squalo" means shark, Greek "corax" means raven)

It is an extinct species of Lamniform shark that lived during the Cretaceous period, 50-70 million years old, (Squalicorax pristodontus)

Squalicorax (also called just "corax" shark) was a coastal predator, but also scavenged other meat such as Hadrosaur dinosaur.  A corax tooth was found embedded in a Hadrosid dinosaur foot bone.  This shark grew to about 15 feet long.  Its teeth were similar to the tiger shark, but without the classic notch in the tiger shark teeth.  THESE HAVE A UNIQUE HEART SHAPE !

Excavated from the Khouribga phosphate plateau region of Morocco, Africa

Here is a photo of a fossil Squalicorax shark found in Kansas, USA
